Convert an existing control into a date picker control

When you drag-and-drop an InfoPath Repeating Table onto an InfoPath form template, the Repeating Table contains Text Box controls by default. If you want to change a Text Box control that’s located within a Repeating Table into another control, for example, an InfoPath Date Picker, you can use one of the following 2 methods.

Method 1

  1. Right-click the Text Box control you want to convert, and select Change To and then Date Picker from the context menu that appears.
  2. Double-click the Date Picker control to open its Properties dialog box.
  3. On the Date Picker Properties dialog box on the Data tab, change the Data type to Date (date) or Date and Time (dateTime), and click OK.

Method 2

  1. On the View menu, click Data Source.
  2. On the InfoPath form template, click the Text Box you want to convert. This will select the node for the Text Box in the Data Source task pane.
  3. On the Data Source task pane, click the down arrow on the node for the Text Box, and click More on the drop-down menu that appears.
  4. On the Select a Control dialog box, select Date Picker from the list, and click OK.
  5. On the Data Source task pane, click the down arrow on the node for the new Date Picker, and select Properties from the drop-down menu that appears.
  6. On the Field or Group Properties dialog box, change the Data type to Date (date) or Date and Time (dateTime), and click OK.

Add a date picker control to a repeating table

If you don’t want to convert an existing control within a Repeating Table, but want to add a new Date Picker control to a Repeating Table, you can do the following:

  1. On the InfoPath form template, right-click the column in the Repeating Table after which you want to add the Date Picker control, and select Insert and then Columns to the Right from the context menu that appears.
  2. Right-click the control you just added, and select Change To and then Date Picker from the context menu that appears.
  3. Double-click the Date Picker control to open its Properties dialog box.
  4. On the Date Picker Properties dialog box on the Data tab, change the Data type to Date (date) or Date and Time (dateTime), and click OK.
