Best of BizSupportOnline – 2008

by S.Y.M. Wong-A-Ton

Learn which InfoPath articles on the BizSupportOnline.NET web site and blog got the most attention during 2008.

2008 was the year Enterprise Solutions was officially moved to BizSupportOnline

If you’re familiar with my old web site (Enterprise Solutions), you know that I’m continuously trying to put useful InfoPath content and articles out on the Internet to ease your learning and use of InfoPath.

While I’m not big on blogging, in 2008 I blogged more than ever before. And while some posts were better than others, there were 3 blog posts that got a lot of attention:

  1. 5 Ways to submit an InfoPath form to a SharePoint list
  2. How to enable InfoPath Forms Services in WSS v3
  3. How to create a ‘hidden’ field in InfoPath

On BizSupportOnline (the web site) where I normally publish full step-by-step InfoPath articles, I finally broke the 100 InfoPath articles barrier; there are currently 101 InfoPath articles on the web site!

Here are the top 10 most popular InfoPath articles on BizSupportOnline in 2008:

  1. Dynamically fill a drop-down list box in a browser form using another InfoPath form as a data source
  2. Automatically add a new item to a SharePoint list using InfoPath 2007 and a custom workflow
  3. Auto-numbering InfoPath forms when they are submitted to a SharePoint form library
  4. Convert an InfoPath 2007 form into a Word 2007 document using XSLT and C#
  5. Programmatically retrieve an InfoPath form from a SharePoint library
  6. How to get data from a MySQL database into InfoPath using a Web Service
  7. Save / Print / Convert / Export an InfoPath form to PDF
  8. How to create a toggle button in InfoPath using rules and conditions
  9. How to simulate Excel’s VLOOKUP function in InfoPath to look up data in a secondary data source using rules and filters
  10. How to use the SharePoint object model to submit data from an InfoPath browser form to a SharePoint list

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of readers who visited my web site and blog during 2008. 2008 was a very enjoyable and satisfying year for me where writing about InfoPath is concerned, and I’m looking forward to yet another great year. Take care and see you in 2009!
